(NEXSTAR) -- Facing their fears head-on, three Team USA snowboarders recount taking the jumps as they prepare for the Winter Olympics. Lily Dhawornvej, Hahna Norman, and Jess Perlmutter have competed in and prepared for big air snowboarding competitions for years, but even at the Olympics, they face adversity when it comes to dropping in. "I was actually scared going up the elevator, getting up the big air," Norman said. "Then proceeded to stay scared at the top of the drop-in." For Dhawornvej, her fear of heights rears its head before any jump. "We were pretty high up there, it was definitely pretty scary," she said. The women's snowboard big air qualification rounds begin on Sunday, February 8, with the finals taking place one day later at Livigno Snow Park.
