(NEXSTAR) – Friday, Target customers and employees reported issues affecting everything from the company’s returns and fulfillment systems to its curbside or online pickup services. Things appeared to be back to normal for most users by Friday evening, however. “Is the apocalypse happening, what the actual hell[?]” one self-identified Target worker wrote in a Reddit forum post on Friday morning. Shoppers on social media indicated that issues had persisted into the afternoon. Complaints recorded by outage tracker DownDetector began to exceed "typical" numbers shortly after 6 a.m. ET. Target.com shoppers continued to report difficulties throughout the day, the site suggests. A spokesperson for Target acknowledged the issue in a statement obtained by Nexstar, but did not elaborate on the cause or breadth of the disruptions. "We're aware of intermittent issues with our digital experience and a fix is underway," reads the statement." In the meantime, our stores continue to be open and ready for holiday shopping. At Target, our top priority is offering a great guest experience. We apologize for this disruption and will provide an update as soon as possible." Target posted a similar message to X at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET, confirming a solution was still "underway." There had been no new messages as of 4 p.m. ET. On X, the team behind Target’s official guest services account provided few additional details about the issue. Responding to a customer who was having trouble placing an online order, customer service reps said the company's online system was experiencing “temporary restrictions or system limitations.” Another customer claimed she was charged for an expensive order, but her account at Target.com showed no evidence of the purchase in her ordering history. “We’re aware of the issues you’re experiencing and are actively looking into them. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this,” a Target representative responded.
